The website did not give me the usual page saying that a payment was received, so I made the payment again. The site still said that I had an outstanding amount, so I paid again assuming that without notification, the original payment did not go through.

However it had. Nelnet would not issue a refund for the $800.00 over pay. John H. said it was not possible.

The site is different everything that I log on. They ask me to redo all of my information on a continual bases. The site still lists my address from 3 years ago, yet I have changed it every time that I have logged in.

They told me if i knew that the website does not work well, then why do I continue to use it. Maybe I should mail in my payment instead.

If you know you made a payment and the site is still showing payment due always call customer service before making the payment again. There is a point when a payment is processing that it doesn't show on the website, (that is being worked on).

but a customer rep can see it and let you know if it is just still going through or if maybe something happened and the previous payment didn't completely go through the system.

Federal regulations make it impossible to get a refund if at all in less than 60 days. Easier to dispute double payment through your bank as an unauthorized request.
