Just beginning to pay off this student loan, and I get home to return the message which was left while I was at work. The first person I talked to was of no help, so I asked to speak to a supervisor, who was even more useless.

She wouldn't wave any late fees and was adamant in saying multiple statments and attempts to reach me were made, although there were no such attempts; I asked for dates and none were given. The supervisor also said I couldn't talk to anyone else and coudln't do anything for me, and that I should just pay my bills. How am I supposed to pay them if I don't receive any statements and there is no contact on their end, except to pay extra fees?

Both representatives were very rude throughout the conversation, making it difficult to remain civil while having a conversation with them. I felt taken advantage of.

It is your legal responsibility to make sure they have your correct contact information. They do keep electronic records of every letter, phone call, and email sent to a borrower and whether or not it was returned or if someone hung up on them.

You can't honestly say that you didn't know when your bill was due. They bombard you with that info. So, yes.

They are terrible for collecting fees like every other company would because you did not pay your bill. Why should they waive you late fees because you weren't paying attention to your debts?

I have had similar experience with Nelnet. Nelnet fails in many areas.

Nelnet failed to notify me when they recieved information from studentloans.gov regarding my payment structure. I never received a confirmation of receipt of the information from Nelnet. Also, Nelnet has failed to process this information in a timely manor.

Nelnet is being paid by our government to sevice loans!

What part of this do you not understand.

Servicing the loans means notifying borrowers. Why is Nelnet not doing the job they are paid with our tax dollars to do?
