Because it takes days to process a payment and they don't accept payments on the DUE DATE if it falls on a weekend, students and families are shorted days to make payments and reported late when payments were actually made on time. I made a payment on a Friday morning with a direct deduction out of my checking account and on Saturday, it is still showing as "in process".

The due date is a Sunday so if I made the payment BEFORE the due date, but the due date is a weekend, my payment will still be late.

Something stinks at Nelnet and the DOE and this comes across as fleecing the public of their time and money. Who else can I report this to at the Federal level?

Reason of review: Order processing issue.

Monetary Loss: $78.

Preferred solution: Report to Congressional Oversight and change the payment process.

Nelnet Pros: Obstructionist.

Nelnet Cons: Are working for their own enrichment.

Yeah, no transfer of money is instant. 3-4 BUSINESS days is pretty standard for any kind of payment like this. Take into account processing times and you wonโ€™t have such a bad experience
